We have recently completed the Human Trafficking Awareness Training for BonePage.com staff. We are proud to stand for the freedom of speech, civil liberties and sexual freedom. These are some of the values that define our platform and guide our commitment to an open, inclusive community. However, we take a firm and unwavering stance against human trafficking and the sexual exploitation of any kind. Our record speaks for itself and we will continue to do everything in our power to safeguard our users and maintain an ethical space for connection.

We have been proud supporters of Polaris Project for some time. As the site webmaster, I took their “Human Trafficking 101” course and found the information to be quite enlightening. Therefore, I made it available to the entire team and we all completed the course. We are committed among ourselves to double down in support of both sexual freedom and in opposition to human trafficking and sexual exploitation.

Polaris Project is a leader in combating human trafficking, offering critical resources and education to help individuals and organizations understand the scope of this crime and how to recognize it. Our team found the “Human Trafficking 101” training to be both highly informative and exceptionally well presented, providing us with valuable insights to enhance our proactive measures.

BonePage maintains a strict zero tolerance policy with respect to human trafficking or any form of sexual exploitation. However, if there is ever any reason to believe that such activity is occurring – no matter how remote the possibility may seem – we will, without question, cooperate fully with the authorities to see that justice is served. ‘Human Trafficking 101’ Overview

The “Human Trafficking 101” course, provided by Polaris Project, covers comprehensive information on the global and local landscape of human trafficking. This $150 billion industry affects nearly 25 million people worldwide, with 16 million in forced private labor and 4.8 million subjected to forced sexual exploitation. The course emphasizes that trafficking involves force, fraud, or coercion, and under the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000, any minor involved is considered a trafficking victim—no exceptions.

Polaris Project has operated the National Human Trafficking Hotline since 2007. The hotline staff offers support through calls, texts, and live online chats.

Trafficking is most prominent among a number of U.S. industries, such as agriculture, construction, hospitality, the adult industry, and illicit services, often exploiting vulnerable populations including people of color, immigrants, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

Some key takeaways from the course include the outline of how traffickers exploit victims’ circumstances and vulnerabilities through grooming and coercion. Victims often don’t view themselves as such, making acceptance of help challenging. For this reason, understanding context, maintaining vigilance, and developing healthy communities are crucial. Polaris advocates for systemic changes, including empowering workers, supporting strong families, and building equitable economies.

Course participants are encouraged to listen to survivor stories, and engage in informed discussions. We are also encouraged to support legislative efforts aimed at proactively addressing the conditions that allow trafficking to flourish in the first place.
